Stork Nightmares - Irvine Welsh
Here's what disturbs me about this book: Irvine Welsh has either
done extensive research and interviews with violent predators, or
he's hung out with some really scary blokes. This is a very good
book, and shows - in great detail - a progression into offence.
The book is told from the point of view of a man fighting to stay
deep in a coma. It's a bit hard to get used to the bizarre writing
styles as he drifts between levels of consciousness, but stick with
it. Following the Edinburgh accents in parts may also prove a challenge
for those not used to speaking with Midlothian Scots. Don't let
this scare you off! It's a very interesting story, and I strongly
recommend it. ~ts |
