Timeline of Events in the Homicide Investigation of Greggory Meissner
This timeline was carefully assembled by Steve and Sharon Meissner, Gregg's mother and father.
August 97- Shawn Padden moves into Hawley.
August 30 97- Sexual Assault occurs at Padden's apartment.
October 31, 97- Police are called to report Padden going crazy and destroying his apartment. Padden assaults Officer Taylor. F-M ambulance takes him to merit care hospital.
November 13, 97- Padden informs on Smokey's burglary.
January 2, 1998- Padden meets with Det. Green and both sign Confidetial Informant form.
January 5, 1998- Gregg is murdered at aprox. 1:00 am. At 8:00 am Sharon finds Gregg and calls 911. The authorities did not tape or seal off the house or even Gregg's room.
Hanson said over police CB this was a suicide before a coroner was here. This incident occurred around 8:15AM, minutes after he arrived on the scene.
Jane Nelson and Sharon Meissner both asked the officers if they should leave. The officers said they could stay.
Law enforcement did not stop anyone from entering the premises, not even the murderer. There were 25 or more people other than law enforcement.
Law enforcement called a lutheran minister in even though Sharon Meissner stated she did not have a religion and did not want anyone.
Detective Green was informed by Sharon Meissner and Robin Jensen about the vomit in the toilet. Green had also told Sharon she could go ahead and use the bathroom. There were 2-3 other officers that were told of the vomit too.
